Although the recovery process of revision nose surgery is comfortable, it requires a lot of patience. Due to the bad experience and unsuccessful results of the first surgery, many of our patients can be impatient to see the results of revision rhinoplasty. However, you should know that you have a waiting period of at least 1 year for the final results of revision nose surgery, which we call secondary rhinoplasty. In nose surgeries, it usually takes 6 months to 1 year for the nose to take its final shape. However, since this is the second operation, many of our patients are more conscious and have a better command of the process compared to the first rhinoplasty. Therefore, they feel much more comfortable during the healing processes.
The situations you will encounter during the recovery process in revision nose surgery differ according to the scope of the operation. For example, if there is an intensive intervention to the nasal bone, then the postoperative swelling and bruising will be moderate. However, if the nasal bone has not undergone much operation, then less bruising is seen.
You may feel partial pressure on the face after the operation, and you may feel pain within the first 24 hours after the operation. This is an expected situation. With the mild painkillers we will give you, this process can be easily overcome.
Our patients, whom we host in the hospital for 1 day after the operation, should pay attention to the first 72 hours after discharge. During this period, they should not use blood thinners, avoid bending over, not lifting heavy loads, and avoid activities that will force their nose and breathing.
During the recovery process, your sleeping positions contribute to a more comfortable night. You can minimize possible swelling and bruising by keeping your head above the level of the heart. In addition, this position can prevent partial pain in the first nights after the surgery.
We usually remove the splint we put on the nose after the operation within the first week after the operation. However, this does not mean that the sensitivity of your nose is over. You should not rub your nose after the splint is removed. If swelling or bruising occurs after the surgery, these will go away within 1 week.
